Fresh off the heels of setting a new monthly revenue record in March, New Jersey iGaming revenue almost did it again last month.
According to the latest monthly reporting from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), the Garden State's iGaming sector – which comprises online casino games and poker, but not sports betting – topped out at $36,582,934 in April revenue. That's good for the second-highest monthly total since legal New Jersey online gambling was regulated in November of 2013.
Believe it or not, online gambling has been a mainstay in New Jersey for going on seven years. No month, however, has ever been as prosperous as March 2020. Online casinos and poker operators reported a jaw-dropping $64.8 million in revenue. How big is that? Online casinos have seen a steady rise in New Jersey since they were first legalized in 2013. While neighboring Pennsylvania and Delaware also have online casino markets, it seems that New Jersey's only competition is with itself. January through July 2020 saw $510m in revenue.

New Jersey iGaming Revenue Reaches New Heights in 2019
The highwater mark thus far was established in March, when iGaming operators generated $39,134,380 in combined 'win' revenue across the casino and poker verticals. That performance eclipsed the previous record of $33,594,391 from January, which means the three highest monthly New Jersey iGaming revenue hauls in the state's history have occurred this year.
To put the revenue spike in perspective, April's revenue total represents a 58.9 percent year-on-year increase from last April's win production of $23,018,762. It took just over five years for New Jersey iGaming revenue to reach the $30 million monthly revenue milestone, but that threshold has easily been met every time in 2019.
Assessed on a quarterly basis, iGaming win increased to $141.1 million between January and April – marking a 52.4 percent jump compared to the first four months of last year.
Golden Nugget Laps the Casino Field
With combined revenue of $13,854,527 across its three online casino platforms – GoldenNuggetCasino.com, BetfairCasino.com, and PlaySugarhouse.com – the Golden Nugget licensing group accounted for nearly 40 percent of New Jersey's total online casino win in April.
In dominating the state's online casino industry for the 29th consecutive month, Golden Nugget's licensing group managed to more than double its nearest competitor in Resorts AC.

After treading water in the middle of the pack since launching in late 2013, Golden Nugget became the first licensing entity to top the $10 million monthly revenue plateau last December. That's been the benchmark ever since, topped by a $14,227,820 take to cap last month's historic haul. Meanwhile, none of Golden Nugget's competitors have even approached eight figures.
Even when the online poker vertical – which Golden Nugget doesn't include – is factored into its rivals' revenue totals, no other licensing group has made it above $8.5 million in a month.
Golden Nugget's rise to juggernaut status was cemented in August of 2016, after the group became the first iGaming license-holder to incorporate Live Dealer casino games.
More recently, Golden Nugget has successfully integrated online sportsbook platforms like FanDuel. While sports betting revenue doesn't contribute to the data referenced above, FanDuel does offer a casino games menu linked to Golden Nugget licensee Betfair, and thus generates iGaming revenue for the group.

Poker revenue fell sharply by 12.34 percent compared to last month alone, dropping by more than $235,000 from March's total of $1,903,790.

Overall, poker hasn't had a month as bad as April since November of last year, when the state's three licensing groups combined for $1,561,639.
